Community Vision

The goal of the NNA is to provide a forum in which all members of the community can participate with the aim of improving our neighborhood so we can all enjoy a safe, friendly place to live. At this point in time we are still developing our vision for the neighborhood. We hope you'll join us!

History

The Newbold Neighbors Association began informally in January 2007 when a group of residents began meeting at each others' houses to discuss community issues. Over the summer, the group expanded and began meeting in the South Philadelphia Branch of the Free Library. In September 2007, the NNA officially adopted its bylaws.

The members in good standing elect a governing board consisting of a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and the chairpersons of the five committees. There are no paid employees- we are all volunteers.

Today between 35 and 50 neighbors meet at the library on a monthly basis to identify and develop community interests, disseminate information, secure needed improvements, and get to know one another.

Many community members also participate in meetings and activities organized by our committees- clean & green, planning & zoning, town watch, community outreach, and fundraising. Click the links above to find out what's going on and how you can participate.

The Newbold Neighbors Associaiton plans to apply for 501 (c) 3 non-profit status in 2008.
