Summer Movie Nights @ 17th & Reed

Bring some kids and join your neighbors on Saturday, July 9th at 7pm for an outdoor showing of "X-Men" at 17th and Reed Streets in South Philadelphia.  The DJ will start playing music at 7pm and the movie starts at 9pm (once it gets dark).  The movie series will continue for the next 8 weeks throughout the summer.

Says the organizer, local resident Damon K. Roberts:

"If we are going to ask kids to come off the street corners, we must provide positive things for them to do.  This is that opportunity to bring kids and have them interact with positive adults in our community. Over the last several weeks, neighborhood residents have joined me in cleaning out three vacant and abandoned lots at the corner of 17th and Reed, across the street from my house.  We have one final cleanup at 9am this Saturday before the first movie, and we are going to be watching movies every Saturday night over the summer.  We are very grateful that BJ's is one of the sponsors for the first event and has graciously donated some food which we will be giving away.  We hope you can join us and help us spread the word. This is simply a positive community event and we look forward to seeing you there."
