What's the perfect way to spend a summer afternoon in the city? Bring the family to one of the free children’s programs at the PHS Pops Up Garden, 20th and Market Sts.
The kid-friendly, interactive programs include "Science in the Garden with The Franklin Institute" every other Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. and presentations by PHS on the other Wednesdays. Hot topics include "Heart Healthy in the Garden," "Worms!" and "Sun, Soil, Water and Air." Children will receive a passport that will be stamped each time they attend a garden program, and five stamps will be good for a free ticket to The Franklin Institute.
Children will also love the seeing the garden’s whimsical topiaries, learning about the green roof and solar-driven fountain, and watching the resident honeybees in their hives. New surprises pop up every day at the Pops Up Garden! Don’t miss the magic.
